About Eddy Meenk

Eddy Meenk (Amsterdam, 16th September 1909 - The Hague, 7th June 1968) was a Dutch trumpeter, singer and jazz band leader who played with the jazz band The Ramblers from 1928 to 1931. From 1934 he played with the jazz band, Kovacs Lajos en zijn orkest but left a year later in 1935 to lead the A.V.R.O. Decibels. Eddy Meenk also conducted, played and sang in The Ed-Maniacs, his own band, who played for Philips radio stations. One was the colonial Dutch East & West Indies broadcasting service known as the PHOHI (Philips Omroep Holland-Indië), and from this collaboration came about the 1934 radio hit, In Holland staat een huis (PHOHI clublied). As a vocalist, his other best remembered songs include 'Geen geld en toch geen zorgen', 'Hold Me' , 'How Do You Do Honolulu?', Business in Q and Music in my Fingers, the latter two of which are from when he sang and played with The Ramblers. His final performances were mostly with the big band, The Skymasters, whom he joined in 1952.
