About Medley Motion

Medley Motion was a Belgian alternative rock band formed in 2006 in Ghent, Belgium. The group began as a trio consisting of Lucas (drums), Clément (bass), and Gilles (guitar). Nicolas, born in Belgium in 1989, joined in early 2007 as lead guitarist. In its earliest phase, the band performed cover songs and worked with vocalist Nana, who sang at the group’s first two or three shows and contributed to its early live development. The members drew inspiration from artists including Nirvana, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Police, Blink-182, Porcupine Tree, Interpol, Editors, Led Zeppelin, and from alternative, progressive, and post-punk styles more broadly. As the band shifted toward original material, Gilles left and the group continued as a trio. Medley Motion recorded its first tracks in September and October 2008 with assistance from our good friend and sound engineer Michaël. In 2009, Amaury joined as drummer, and Lucas transitioned from singing drummer to guitar playing and singing frontman. During this period, the band performed several shows in Ghent and surrounding areas while expanding its catalogue of original songs. Medley Motion performed at Rock Merendree in both 2009 and 2010, joined on stage by some musician friends, and concluded its short-lived yet powerful initial period after the 2010 show. The band reunited in 2018 and 2019 for two one-off performances at the Stuiver festival, with Clément, Lucas, and Nicolas joined by Clément’s brother Justin on keyboards. After 2019, the band did not resume further activity.
