Mathew Joseph McNerney, better known as Kvohst, is a British singer, guitarist, songwriter, and producer born in 1978 in Wimbledon, London. Over the years, he has lived in several countries, including the Netherlands and Norway—where he stayed in Oslo and Karasjok (Finnmark)—and he is currently based in Tampere, Finland. He is the founder, vocalist, and guitarist of Hexvessel, and the lead singer of Grave Pleasures, a band that evolved from Beastmilk. He has also been the lead vocalist for the Norwegian band Dødheimsgard and UK Code. With Code, he was nominated for a Norwegian Grammy (Spellemannprisen) for the album Resplendent Grotesque. Also have a solo project called Scorpion Milk since 2024. Beyond performing, he has been active as a freelance graphic designer and copywriter since 2000, and he previously ran a weekly club night in Helsinki called Club Mega Therion, where he worked as a DJ and promoter. Kvohst has collaborated on various projects. Notably, he wrote and performed the track “Burning Churches” on the album New Man, New Songs, Same Shit. Vol.1 by Me and That Man, a project led by Nergal from Behemoth. With Hexvessel, he also recorded a cover of “Gaia” by Tiamat as a tribute to their influential album Wildhoney.
