About Master Zhongxian Wu

Master Zhongxian Wu is a contemporary Chinese scholar-practitioner born in Zhejiang Province, China, whose work bridges Daoist internal arts, traditional Chinese music (especially the guqin), and qigong/taiji practice. According to his official biography, he grew up in a small coastal village on China’s eastern shore, where he began training in qigong and taiji at an early age. After graduating in aerospace engineering from XiDian University in Xi’an in 1989, he spent twelve years working in industry and simultaneously deepening his study of Daoist arts, music, calligraphy and cosmology. Since the late 1980s, Zhongxian Wu has been active internationally as a teacher, author and performer. He is the founder (with his wife Dr Karin Taylor Wu) of the Blue Willow World Healing Center and the QinJian Akademin (琴劍研究院) based in Stockholm, Sweden, which offers workshops in internal cultivation, classical Chinese music and traditional wisdom arts. His credentials include authorship of 15 books (five in Chinese) on topics ranging from the Yijing (I Ching) and talisman calligraphy to guqin music and qigong healing. Through his cross-disciplinary work, Master Wu stands out as a modern revivalist of Chinese literati arts who emphasizes the deep interconnection between sound, breath, movement and tradition.
