About Marsyas
There are at least two bands with this name: 1. Czech folk-rock band, formed in 1973 around female vocalist Zuzana Michnová during tough communist era in Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic). Another two core members who joined Zuzana were Oskar Petr and Petr Kalandra. The band was influenced by 1960's musicians such as Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Carole King and others. The band's style went through changes from folk and folk-rock, to blues, country and even reggae. The band also had a strong focus on quality lyrics which worked as a glue to put different musical styles together. And it worked well... 2. A Romanian death/doom/gothic band that split up after the release of their only album, 'Lonely Tears'.
