About Marco Taggiasco
Marco Taggiasco mostly works as arranger, composer, producer and songwriter. He began to play organ at age 16, self-teaching harmony and music theory. Soon he started to gig around with his own bands, playing piano back in the late 70s. Combos included horns and percussion and featured some of the best session players from the italian jazz scene. The sound was an orchestral kind of fusion with an original-songs based repertoire. In the 90s he concentrated his activity in the studio, working as arranger and producer for singers and eventually as bandleader for their live acts. His works also include arranging for big bands and composing music for theatre and short movies. In the 2000s Marco met Andrea Sanchini, a young male vocalist and songwriter. Marco was impressed by his soulful and expressive voice and asked him to sing some of his songs. Hearing Sanchini’s own songs, he decided to produce them and put everything on a record. “Thousand Things” soon gained good reviews on the most important adult contemporary and westcoast music sites worldwide, becoming sort of a little cult item in Japan and Northern Europe. “I really didn’t expect such a feedback” Marco says “I arranged and recorded the songs with no commercial boundaries, not worring about formats or trends, but soon we had to reprint the album cause the little stock went sold out! So we decided to promote it with concerts, ending up with the making of a DVD this past summer. Real big fun!”. 2008: four years after the acclaimed debut album Thousand Things, the long anticipated new CD from Marco Taggiasco is finally available. Recording sessions have been done in Rome, Copenhagen and L.A. The album is titled This Moment and counts two unreleased tracks written by Eric Tagg and a remake of Orleans' oldie You've Been Runnin'. Most of the tracks are performed again by Andrea Sanchini, which also contributes with two songs. Eric Tagg also features on the opening track, coming back in the studio after ten years of absence! Among the special guests' names pops up the one of David Pack, delivering us an incredible performance on the title track. Acclaimed Danish/American singer-songwriter Anne Marie Bush features on the touching adult-contemporary ballad “April In My Heart”. Her new album’s release is expected at the end of spring and will contain a song produced by Marco. "I wanted the album to be representative of different sides of my work - Marco explains - and having such great talents performing on this record gave me the best chance to do it. They are the real stars in this project".
