About Maps Of Columbus
Maps of Columbus are a 3 piece alternative punk band hailing from Crewe, Cheshire, UK Robert Bramhill, Craig Parkinson and Jonathan Mottram first formed in early July 2008 under the name of The Last Great American Whale from the ashes of former local bands. Performing mainly an aggressive style of alternative punk, that sadly was short lived and only a few self produced demo's remain. A Year later and a change of musical direction and fresh ideas resulted in a name change to Maps Of Columbus. Over the past year, Maps Of Columbus have been lucky enough to perform along side much "cooler" bands as New Young Pony Club, The Heebie Jeebies and the Crooks. While at the same time, somehow rustling up some rather exciting live performances, appearing at the annual Tramlines festival in Sheffield, as well as playing a host of notorious house parties and more surprisingly, managing to play shows across the globe in Sweden. Maps Of Columbus are due to return to the studio in December to record the follow up to their independently released self titled EP "Maps Of Columbus".
