About Madahoochi

Madahoochi plays a high energy blend of rock, funk, jazz, soul, and pop and has been something of an institution in the St. Louis scene for some time now. Formed in 95-96 the band has played hundreds of shows most years since their inception, sporadically wandering outside the greater St. Louis area to various venues across the midwest and a number of festivals. Despite local reknown , they have only gained limited recognition outside their home city and a few regional college towns - Columbia and Springfield in MO, Carbondale IL, etc. Madahoochi's live performances are very interactive, improvisational, and dynamic. They often collaborate with the musicians of other bands they share the stage with, especially when sharing the bill with bands of the midwest they have become friends with - Speakeasy, 56 Hope Road, The Station, Bockman, Family Groove Company, etc. Madahoochi has four albums - "Movin' On", their first; 2002's "Big Bang Medley" next, the first album with the current lineup; then 2005's "In Fantastic Stereo", and then in 2007 a live album "Live in the Loop." They also recently released a 4-song "EP" called "Square One" which is only available on the internet. This latest features "Johnny Walker", "Text Slut", "Real Time", and "Today My Friends Left School." In addition, Madahoochi recently released a music video for their song Text Slut, directed by Spooky Daly of Spooky Daly Pride. Madahoochi is: Scott Rockwood - lead guitar, vocals Shawn Hartung - keyboards, vocals Beto Moreno - Bass Joe Winze - Drums On occasion, Madahoochi also features Adam Rugo - of Nuclear Percussion Ensemble - on percussion. Madahoochi allows taping of their shows and many recordings can be found at http://www.archive.org/details/Madahoochi
