About MADOO

Madoo was a reggae singer born in Dalvey, St. Thomas. He attended Excelsior High School and cut his musical teeth on East Kingston sound systems like Arrows International and Stereophonic. In the early 1980s he had big hits with "Jamming So" and "Coming From Town" for producers Joe Gibbs and Winston Riley, respectively. He also had hits with Joe Grine and Landlord. Madoo migrated to the United States in 1982, recording very sparsely thereafter. On October 11th 2015, at the age of 56, Madoo died at his home in Bangor, Maine. His brother, fellow singer Hugh Madoo aka UU Madoo or Hugh Hugh Madoo, did not give a cause of death but said Madoo had a history of heart problems. Osbert 'Madoo' Maddo is survived by his wife Janet, three children, two grandchildren, five brothers and five sisters.
