About Mýnkarnir

In early 2009, rapper Gutti Frans exploded onto the Icelandic Hip-Hop scene and has since been tirelessly touring the hottest venues with supporting acts such as BlazRoca aka Erpur (which roughly translates to Hansen), July Moors (know by locals as Júlí Heiðar), Diddi Fel aka Diddy Hide (wordplay for 'Did-He-Hide?') and many others artists. But in late 2010, Gutti decided to take a break from the glamour lifestyle and touring to start working on some new material. He called up Möddi Tútta aka Muddy Tits, who is commonly referred to as the father of the Icelandic Hip-Hop industry, and asked him to produce a full-length album entitled "Það er erfitt að borða ávexti". Muddy accepted and after only three days of jamming on beats and lyrics Muddy joined the project full-time. They had written about 3-4 songs when they came to a halt. They couldn't write any more songs due to the lack of freshness in the band. Two months went by and nothing seemed to be able to cure their writer's block when one day they looked outside. They saw a man dangling from a balcony, heroically trying to save a puppy. After helping him down they knew he would make the perfect addition to the group. The man turned out to be an underground rapper from Sweden named Bjornen. Bjornen was the freshness they were lacking. The current line-up consists of: Gutti Frans, Muddy Tits and Bjornen. They are to this day still working on the album which is set to be released in June 2011. After going through names such as: "Það er erfitt að borða ávexti", "Alltof margir ávextir", "Fokking Ávextir" and "Ég hata Samsung", they ultimately decided upon naming the album "Ávextir Erfiðis".
