About Louis Constantin

Louis Constantin was a French composer born in Paris around 1585 and died in this town in October 1657. Louis Constantin was a member of the Vingt-Quatre Violons du Roi under Louis XIII, and was elected "king of the violins" in 1624, in succession to François Richomme and became a member of the Parisian brotherhood of Saint-Julien, of Players of Instruments. He leaves us a single musical work La Pacifique for six instruments. In 1655 he passes his position of the Twenty-four Violons to his nephew Antoine Desnoyers, his son Jean Constantin was already a member of the ensemble before 1655. The burial ceremony of Louis Constantin took place at the Saint-Sulpice Church in Paris onOctober 25, 1657.
