About Local Boy Makes Good
Very little is known of Local Boy Makes Good beyond 1982's 'Horoscope' synth pop single, which appears to have been a one-off project for Jeff Allen, brother of Ultravox bassist Christopher Allen (a.k.a. Chris Cross) and Keith Marshall. Both were former members of Hello. The Arrival label on which 'Horoscope' was released had been established by David Blaylock, the band's former manager (and one time Zombies road manager). Jeff Allen also tried his hand as a solo artist under his own name in 1982, the same year 'Horoscope' was issued, releasing a single entitled 'Good Times' (a co-write with his brother Christopher) with 'Horoscope' re-appearing on the B-side. As far as which release of 'Horoscope' came first, that little piece of synth pop history seems to have fallen between the cracks in several memories.
