About LeFloid

LeFloid (*October 1, 1987, in East Berlin; real name Florian Diedrich, née Mundt) is a German web video producer and operator of various YouTube channels. His YouTube series "LeFloid vs. The World" was nominated for the 55th Grimme Award in 2019 in the Children & Youth category. Florian Diedrich, born in Berlin-Lichtenberg, attended the Europa School in Storkow, where he graduated with his Abitur in 2008. He then studied psychology and rehabilitation pedagogy at Humboldt University in Berlin, specializing in children and adolescents as well as language disorders. Alongside his studies, he worked as a counselor for teenagers dealing with depression and emotional problems. In addition to scars from several failed surgeries, his tattoos became a trademark. These tattoos include the date of a childhood accident, his own birthdate and that of his parents, an owl with a broken wing symbolizing the unsuccessful operations on Diedrich's now largely insensitive right hand, and the Latin phrase "in medias res." Diedrich is married and the father of fraternal twins. YouTube Channels LeFloid, FlipFloid, and DoktorFroid YouTube channels are managed in collaboration with the Studio71 network, owned by ProSiebenSat.1 Group. Until 2014, LeFloid produced content in cooperation with the Multi-Channel-Network Mediakraft. LeFloid The main channel, LeFloid, is one of the most subscribed channels in Germany. Its defining series is "LeNews," where LeFloid comments on current topics from the media. These usually involve headlines, sensations, and curiosities in the areas of school, bullying, games, crime, politics, or sports, appealing especially to teenagers and causing media attention. While serious topics, critical discussions, and appeals are also present, LeFloid states that the primary purpose of the videos is entertainment, setting "LeNews" apart from traditional news broadcasts, which has led to some criticism. For example, he introduced the format "Nett to know" in "LeNews," featuring current, sometimes amusing, or shocking fun facts. The frequency and release days of "LeNews" varied over the years, with videos appearing twice a week as of June 2017, on Mondays and Thursdays. Additionally, there were video series under the title "Die Welt in meinem Kopf..:", deviating from the typical "LeNews" format, consisting of short videos about personal experiences and opinions. The "ACTION & Kurzfilme" section features elaborate, often action-packed short film projects, frequently created in collaboration with other YouTubers. On July 11, 2015, he conducted a widely noted interview with Chancellor Angela Merkel, where he posed questions from the YouTube community gathered under the hashtag #NetzFragtMerkel. The interview was published on his channel LeFloid on July 13, 2015. Reviews were mixed, frequently mentioning his "unusually obedient" interviewing style, which was accommodating to Merkel, while also addressing the growing significance of YouTube in politics. DoktorFroid Reacts LeFloid operates a second channel called "DoktorFroid Reacts," where various vlogs and projects are uploaded. The channel also features guest appearances by other YouTubers, Let's Plays showcasing computer or video games, and collaborative short films. The channel was revived on October 14, 2016, during a stay in Las Vegas. As of September 30, 2022, the channel has approximately 480,000 subscribers and over 135 million views. DoktorFroid Since December 29, 2012, LeFloid has operated the channel "DoktorFroid," initially with Max Krüger (alias Frodoapparat), then with Oliver Dombrowski (alias Der Olli), and finally with Paul Stehr (alias Powlster). The channel originally focused mainly on computer games, but now it primarily revolves around "React" videos. These are mainly served through the formats "RandomGameFacts," a compilation of funny or bizarre additional information about more or less known computer games, and "NerdRanking," Top X lists. DoktorFroid has over 650,000 subscribers and over 240 million views as of September 30, 2022. Additionally, a video of the series "Nerdscope" (formerly 1080NerdScope) was uploaded every Saturday, making its debut on SWR on August 1, 2015. The Meimberg production was initially released on the channel and later on SWR, covering topics related to gaming and new media. On average, the episodes received 200,000 to 300,000 views. The second season of the series concluded on September 30, 2017, and it has been on hiatus since then. DoktorFroid Gamebang Since November 25, 2014, the spin-off "DoktorFroid Gamebang" to "DoktorFroid" has existed. Initially, Let's Plays and livestream recordings from Twitch were uploaded retroactively on this channel. However, the video upload on this channel was temporarily halted in mid-2016, as future Twitch recordings were planned to be uploaded on the main DoktorFroid channel. Currently, only Let's Plays are uploaded on this channel. Contributions to Other Channels Additionally, in 2013, he worked on the launch of the channels "Was Geht Ab!?" and "Techscalibur." "Was Geht Ab!?" featured daily videos where contributors presented and commented on current news. On the "Techscalibur" channel, discussions about movies, video games, series, and similar topics took place. After the departure of well-known faces, the success of the channels declined, leading to their discontinuation in 2015.
