About Lauri Tähkä & Elonkerjuu
Lauri Tähkä & Elonkerjuu were a five-member band hailing from Western Finland. The band combined elements of traditional Finnish folk music with energetic rock, blending into catchy tunes with a twist. The band's frontman sang all lyrics in the distinct Western Finnish dialect, creating a distinct feeling of the music coming from a long tradition of folk singers. This was furthered by the fiddling of Johanna Koivu, which also drew on the tradition of fiddle-music that exists in Western Finland. The band consisted of musicians all working under pseudonyms. Jarkko Tapani Suo (vocals, guitar), Johanna Koivu (violin, backing vocals), Simo Ralli (guitar, backing vocals), Antero Naali (bass), and Lenni Paarma (drums, backing vocals). Suo left the band in 2011 and was replaced by Juha Lagström. The band played together with more or less the same combination since the mid-90s, although they broke into the mainstream consciousness in 2006 with their album Maailma On Renki. On 10 March 2011, the rest of the band received an email from the lead singer Jarkko Tapani Suo that he's leaving the band. This came after a hiatus following a long tour, during which Suo thought that he'd lost his inspiration to do music. On 25 March, this information was posted on the band's website, and the band now broke up for a short while. Suo started a solo career afterwards under the pseudonym "Lauri Tähkä", which he used while singing for Lauri Tähkä & Elonkerjuu.
