About Las Flores Project
Las Flores Project is the moniker of Brooklyn-based producer Christian Banks. "Las Flores Project", aptly named after the geographical area of Banks' musical beginnings, came into conception in 2005, but did not become a full time endeavor until late 2006. After a year of recording, Las Flores Project unveiled the debut album "Colores y Memorias"in 2008. Using a method of sample-based sequencing, turntablism, and live instrumentation, "Colores y Memorias" presented 11 compositions of heavily textured melodies and driving drum breaks, journeying through everything from classic 90's hip-hop to obscure 60's psych-rock, from blunted jazz to vague dollar-bin record finds and everything in between. Banks continues to produce music under the Las Flores Project appellation. In addition to Las Flores Project's more beat-oriented, esoteric compositions, he is concurrently at work on another alias as well as several collaborations.
