About Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love
Kurt Cobain (1967-1994) and Courtney Love (1964-) were married musicians, both of whom were prominent figures in the '90s alternative rock scene. Cobain was frontman of the legendary grunge band Nirvana, which he formed in 1987 in Washington; Love is the frontwoman of the critically-acclaimed alternative rock band Hole, which she formed in 1989 in Los Angeles. The couple met in 1990 in Portland, Oregon, and were married in 1992, the year they gave birth to their only daughter, Frances Bean Cobain. They shared a home in Seattle, Washington, United States up until Cobain's suicide in April 1994, just days before Hole's second album, Live Through This, was released. Although the couple rarely performed together, they did perform one live acoustic session together for the Rock Against Rape benefit at Club Lingerie in Los Angeles in 1993. They also wrote several songs together, most infamously "Closing Time", which was written with Hole drummer Patty Schemel, and "Stinking of You", which surfaced in home video footage of the couple. After Cobain's death, Love released another album with Hole titled Celebrity Skin, which garnered the group a Grammy nomination, and had a brief solo career. She reformed Hole with new members in 2009 and released a fourth album.
