About Kissing the Mirror
(2007 - 2016) Kissing the Mirror was a Japanese melodic death metal (earlier - power metal) doujin band led by Wooming (ウーミン) (Wooming's page), based in Japan. The band's only band member was Wooming, but in 2015, live vocalist sawacy and lead guitarist Kenkawa were officially invited by Wooming. They will soon also form an original band, called the Art of Mankind, with Kenkawa and Wooming on guitars, and sawacy on vocals, like it was before. Started in 2007, their initial style was influenced by bands like Nightwish, Children of Bodom and others. The last album Words left Untold however, had massive influence from The Black Dahlia Murder, having 3 certain tracks made as a kind of tribute to them. Kissing the Mirror mostly performed arranges of tracks from the Touhou video game series. Live band members include former member 藤見ありす (Arisu Fujimi) playing guitar, spetsnaz of GO-ZEN and さわけん (Sawaken)-also known as sawacy- of Virginhate and ex-the Art of Mankind performing vocals, and マーキー (Maaki) (staff). Former member 池fuck (Ike fuck) recorded bass and played guitar on studio albums. Although they perform live, they often participate in Kissing the Mirror's studio albums. Other notable guests include Rib:Y(uhki), アルベルト・オブ・ジョイトイ (Albert of Joytoy) who is also the vocalist of Regnum Caelorum Et Gehenna, and guest PEATH2, as well as many more guests. The band's final album, WORDS LEFT UNTOLD, was released at Comiket 89 on the 30th of December, 2015 and the final live took place on the 14th of August, 2016 at Shibuya Cyclone. Later, in 2016, the founder of Kissing the Mirror, Wooming, decided to step out of the Doujin scene, disband Kissing the Mirror and create an original band, called the Art of Mankind, along with other Kissing the Mirror members like sawacy on vocals (who however left in 2025) and Kenkawa, as lead guitarist, in the band.
