About Kim Jarrett
Regularly featured on the CBC, Toronto singer/songwriter Kim Jarrett’s two independent releases (Kim Jarrett & Thinking of You) have been collecting fans for a decade. Her song, “How Long”, called “a soon-to-be soft rock classic”, by Women of Substance Radio, can be found on various Philips Electronics mp3 products sold worldwide, and has earned over 14,000 streams, a #1 and multiple Top 10 awards from the fansite, ourstage.com. Other songs, such as “Yesterday’s Gone”, “Laura”, “You & Me”, “Without Your Hands” and "Thinking of You", have also earned Top 10 and Top 40 awards across the Soft Rock, Acoustic, Folk, and Alternative Country categories on ourstage.com, and “Not Mine” placed in the Top 5 of the Pop/AC category of the 10th Annual Great American Song Contest. Kim Jarrett is usually found performing in and around Toronto as a duo on guitar, keys, or drums with bassist/producer Mike Costantino. Performing a mix of classic covers, current pop, and Kim’s original soft rock, Kim & Mike have held many long-term residencies, and hosted jam nights at various Toronto venues (Gypsy Co-op, The Liberty Bistro, Slack’s, The Village Vapor Lounge, Spirits Bar & Grill) since 2006. Recent highlights include US showcases in 2011 at the popular Dewey Beach Music Conference, and past Canadian festival spots with Canadian 80s pop sensations The Spoons, and independent American folk-darling, Melissa Ferrick. A lover of harmonies, Kim is also a sought-after backing vocalist, often from behind a drum kit, or at least an egg shaker, providing a solid and steady foundation for other roots-rock artists, and when joined by a lead guitarist – the Kim Jarrett Band. She has also been involved in band projects as a drummer and vocalist at venues like the Palais Royale. With producer Mike Costantino, Kim is working on new material, including some co-writing with other artists, which she looks forward to sharing in 2013 with fans old, and new. Advance release news will be available at kimjarrett.com. A firm believer in the benefits of strong and healthy communities, Kim also proudly supports United Way Toronto, donating a percentage of her cd and download sales. In June 2012, Kim Jarrett was a part of a James Bond theme song band at Toronto venue, The Old Nick, which raised over $2,000 for Sick Kids Hospital, with Toronto musicians Jennifer Brewer, Janet Whiteway, Elana Harte, Lucio Agostini and Mike Costantino.
