About Katagory V

Katagory V is a progressive metal band from Salt Lake City, Utah. They formed in 1999 when Dustin Mitchell (bass) and Curtis Morrell (guitar) met at a local metal show. They decided to turn their similar musical influences into a metal project. After getting a full line-up together, the band recorded their debut album "Present Day" and released it in 2001. The album was a success and gained the band a lot of recognition and attention, especially in Europe, where is would go on to gain cult status. The band would release three more albums through Nightmare Records before going through several line up changes. Katagory V would record and release a 5th album with an entirely new line up in 2015 before disbanding shortly after. Katagory V would officially reform in 2024 with three original members, Dustin Mitchell. Curtis Morrell and Matt Suiter, along with the vocalist from their fifth album, Albert Rybka and new guitarist Dan Coxey. The band is currently recording their sixth album that is due to be released in 2025. http://www.utahmetal.com/
