KK: Klarence Komedy
About KK: Klarence Komedy
Klarence Komedy (or KK)is a comedic group from Tasmania, Australia who mainly impersonate teachers from their school, Clarence High, but also poke fun at telivision advertisements, students from their school and other victims. The group formed in 2004 with only Adam Davison and Jeremy Edwards, when they decided to record some kits for CD about no specific students or teachers, just fictional characters, other than "Jessica" Turner (also known on the recordings as "Elizabeth" Turner) who is based on a student with another first name, and Mr. Hird. As well as a roll call which includes a list of actual students in the boys' class. The recordings were extremely poor quality, recorded with just a computer microphone/headphone headset. The boys sold the CD to only one student, though many others heard it and gave it good feedback. The pair went back and did a couple of other skits and gradually the novelty wore off, though it was never forgotten. Until grade 8 (2005) when Jeremy and Adam decided to invite friends Brendan Fisher and Will Hollick to come and do some new KK tracks on the day after the last day of school. They recorded around 9 songs which were quite good, but still quite shabby quality, and still only done with a computer headset. Again the boys got over it and went back to normal life. Then in grade 9 (2006) during a term holiday, Jeremy and Adam, along with Brendan Fisher, James Woodberry and newly appointed engineer Edward Peck called into James Woodberry's house for yet another recording session. Looking back on the tracks recorded there, they are quite poor, though the recording quality is excellent and the hit Chris Cornell (of Audioslave) impression was recorded there. The rest of the recordings were really just sporting commentator/athlete impressions. Later that year, again on the day after the last day of school, Jeremy, Adam teamed up with Brendan, James, Edward and Nick Hayes (only spectating, but offering ideas) to make their best tracks yet, and even included original songs this time. Tracks are made about real teachers and real students, which are later put on a KK MySpace music profile for the public to hear. The group were overhauled with good feedback from students from Clarence High, from all grades. Due to all the good feedback, the group did another recording session with harsh jokes aimed at the jock community, and getting away from teachers slightly. By this time it was January 2007 and the boys are not currently attending school. Some of the new tracks are added to the MySpace profile and a whole album from the two 2006 sessions as well as the best tracks from the 2005 session is uploaded to the space using Megaupload, entitled "Komedy That Lasts" a play on the title of the school magazine "Learning That Lasts". The group are hailed as heros. Before school returns for the year 2007, Jeremy and Brendan decided it is best if the tracks are taken off the MySpace page to avoid any conflict it may cause, as some targeted students have already heard the tracks and are upset. But at the end of the first term of 2007, a group of angry Jocks who believe they are not gay, but only metro, come after co-executive producer of KK, Adam Davison, threatening violence. Davison seeks protection but the mob of jocks hand a high profile (and unaware victim of KK's antics) teacher, who listens to around 5 tracks by the group. Legal action is threatened as well as punishment at school, so the MySpace profile, as well as the sub-domain website are taken down. It was fun while it lasted. The group are still reigned as heros, especially as the teachers heard the tracks they had made.
