Kaneyorimasaru (カネヨリマサル) is a three-piece alternative rock band based in Osaka, Japan. Formed in March 2014, the band consists of vocalist and guitarist Mina Chitose (ちとせみな), bassist & chorus Mei Ishihara (いしはらめい), and drummer & chorus Sana Morimoto (もりもとさな). The band's inception traces back to Mina Chitose and Mei Ishihara's time in the same high school's light music club, where they also played together in a cover band. Inspired by bands like Chatmonchy (チャットモンチー) and BUMP OF CHICKEN, Chitose, who initially played the keyboards, dreamt of singing and playing guitar. Impressed by Chitose's voice during karaoke, Ishihara suggested her to be the vocalist. In March 2014, upon graduating, they decided to form their original band. Initially, they were joined by a classmate from the light music club as a drummer, but the line-up shifted, and a support drummer was later brought in when the original drummer left. The band's name, "Kaneyorimasaru," derived from the idea of creating a name resembling an old man's name, with a touch of humor and quirkiness. In April 2016, the band's activities went on hold due to Chitose's academic commitments. However, they resumed their musical journey and held their first self-produced live show on March 21, 2017, introducing their demo titled "Hashiru, Yoru," featuring four songs. Following some changes in their line-up, Sana Morimoto became the permanent drummer in January 2018. In September 2018, the new formation released their first demo titled "Koibito." They held a self-produced event called "THREE" at Osaka 2nd Line on March 13, 2019, during which they released their second demo "Kankei no nai hito / Chiisai hana." On April 24, 2019, they signed with D.T.O.30., an indie subsidiary of Victor Entertainment, leading to their participation in events and outdoor festivals, such as TOKYO CALLING, SOUND CRUISING, JUNE ROCK FESTIVAL, FREEDOM NAGOYA, JAPAN'S NEXT Shibuya JACK, and others. Kaneyorimasaru's music, characterized by remarkable melodies, sweet vocals, and sincere lyrics reflecting the bittersweetness of love and youth, resonated with audiences, especially on social media platforms like TikTok. The band's popularity continued to grow, culminating in successful one-man live shows in Tokyo and Osaka in May 2022. On January 25, 2023, they achieved a major debut with the release of their first full album "Watashi no Nocturne" under Victor Entertainment's Getting Better Records label. With their empathetic music and diary-like lyrics, Kaneyorimasaru continues to captivate audiences, strengthening their presence in the music scene. On August 2, 2023, they released their digital single "GIRL AND" via Victor Entertainment.
