About Juliusz Łuciuk
Juliusz Łuciuk (* January 1, 1927 in Nowa Brzeźnica) is a Polish composer. Łuciuk studied musicology from 1947 to 1952 with Zdzisław Jachimecki at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, music theory with Aleksander Frączkiewicz at the State Academy of Music, composition with Stanisław Wiechowicz, piano with Sergiusz Nadgryzowski and Jan Hoffman and organ with Józef Chwedczuk. In 1958-59 he studied composition in Paris with Nadia Boulanger and Max Deutsch and attended seminars with Olivier Messiaen. In 1959 he took part in the Darmstadt Summer Courses. After his training, Łuciuk devoted himself exclusively to composition. His works have been performed in Poland and abroad and have been awarded numerous prizes. His compositions include songs and choral works, piano works, chamber music and orchestral works, oratorios, cantatas, music for pantomimes and an opera.
