About Johnny Kendall
Johnny Kendall (real name: Johan Donker Kaat, born 1941 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands) is a Dutch rock & roll singer best known for his years with Amsterdam rock & roll outfit, Johnny Kendall & the Heralds (1965-1968), who enjoyed considerable Dutch chart success with their 1965 version of 'St. James Infirmary'. The group was remarkably succesful in Italy, where they performed a lot. After the demis of The Heralds, Kendall formed the Johnny Kendall Selection. He was also, briefly, the singer of De Maskers. The 1970s saw him work with Wally Tax and Bert Kaempfert and establish new groups, including Johnny Kendall Machine and Pineapple. In recent years Kendall sang his hits as part of the 'Pioniers van de Nederpop' / 'Golden Years Of Dutch Pop Music' touring caravan. He lives in Brazil for most of the year.
