About John Carrie and Moor Green
Humble beginnings as a street musician planted Irish songwriter and singer of songs John Carrie in cities such as New York, Berlin,Barcelona, London and Amsterdam. After lots of rain, shine , pockets of small coins and bottles of wine , the music moved indoors. A collaboration with drummer Gary Leatherland in summer 2004 led to the recording of their first ep - ’Release’. Written and recorded in Amsterdam the ep became the starting point for a string of small tours and support shows across Europe. In the summer of 2005 they’ve drafted bass monkey Karlito Gonzales in to add some more soul and a punching second vocal and pianist/vocalist ’The Apiarist’ to complete the quartet - John Carrie and Moor Green. To date the band have shared stages with artists as diverse as Heavy Trash , Fishbone, Xavier Rudd, The Kings of Leon and the Dutch genie Spinvis. In autumn 2006 work started on the recording of their debut album "Folk is not happy". Recorded and mixed with Remko Schouten (Pavement , Devendra Banhart) at Ijland studios in Amsterdam, the album offers us a folk - reggae - rock and rolling pop infused look into life, love and loss. Completed and released in April 2007, the album is available in most record stores in Amsterdam or through contact with the band at www.johncarriemusic.com.
