Joel is a veteran of the Australian rock scene, as a teenager playing in Melbourne's raw and illustrious "God" whose single "My Pal" became a veritable rock anthem. God also was the teenage launch pad of Tim Hemmensley (Powdermonkeys). For many years Joel has fronted Hoss. His stage presence while performing has been known to be rather comedic, at times hilarious. He also appeared on various of Warwick Brown's The Sunset Strip recordings. Joel's solo record "Greasy Lens" released by Mick Turner's label, is a true gem too few have heard. Also released, but under the name 'Melonman' was the self titled album from wayback - this is NOT the Melonman who is "a funny “parodic” project created by a crazy French artist " and Joel does NOT do "mostly French parodies/humouristic sounds based on various artists". Truly!
