Jessie Torrisi played drums in a dozen New York City rock bands (Unisex Salon, Laptop, Les Fleurs Tragiques) before recording her debut album. The title, Brûler Brûler, “burn burn” in French, says it all. Indie pop at its best, it's been hailed as “circus-like,” “electric,” & the “Best Americana Album of 2009.” The record's is a mad dash for passion through the streets of Brazil, Brooklyn, & New Orleans-- all places Jessie lived in the last decade. Jessie now lives in Austin & tours with her band The Please, Please Me. Their live show includes stunts like Jessie singing from behind the drums, bandmates switching instruments & dragging the audience onstage to play kazoo.
