About Jaysynth
"Hailing from the northern suburbs of Johannesburg, South Africa, Jason Sutherland is a musician, multi-instrumentalist and producer with a burning desire to augment imagination and radiate creativity to immense lengths. Exploring and experimenting with ambient music throughout his teen years, Jason started making sounds under the name On Travel, releasing various split albums and EPs with many like-minded independent artists before mysteriously fading under a fog of uncertainty. In 2008, Jason and friends started the cinematic post-rock quartet Eyes Like Mirrors, in which he still remains a prolific member. Since early 2011 Jason has been making swirling yet crushing electronic post-rock music under the moniker Jaysynth. His sound can be described as a mix of ambient post-rock leaning toward a classical nature, whilst swelling with lush electronics into climatic comfort. Jaysynth released his debut 5-track self titled EP in October 2011, as well as a score to the 1904 silent epic 'The Impossible Voyage'. Gaining attention from the local scene and music addicts from all over the world, he has garnered a small following through the use of sites like bandcamp and various blogs. January 2012 saw the release of the dreamy single "Clouds Over Hills", accompanied by a video animated by Jason himself, which premiered at The Bioscope Theatre in Johannesburg. In August 2012, Jaysynth released his sophomore EP titled "Welcome To Limbo", again containing 5 tracks, and sounding more sophisticated than ever." - Bio written by Shannon Lawlor
