About Jay Kishor

Jay Kishor is an Indian musician, playing the sitar and surbahar, as well as the guitar. Kishor's teachers have included Annapurna Devi, Brij Bhushan Kabra, and Raj Bhan Singh Thakursaheb. He has collaborated with guitarists Stanley Jordan and the late Michael Hedges. Kishor is also the founder of touchingGrace, a sitar-based group, and of The RajDhani Quartet, an Indian classical fusion nsemble which merges the diverse musics of North (Hindustani) and South (Carnatik) India, while incorporating rāga-based tonal harmonies and Western themes. As a guitarist, Kishor has also played with the jazz-fusion band The Chroma Blend, as well as contemporary chamber music ensemble Deep Tree Mantra.
