About Jana Petrů
Jana Petrů (* July 14, 1938 Prague – May 6, 1990 ) was a Czech singer . She was one of the most popular Czech singers of the early 1960s. She began her career in 1962 as a lead singer of the large PKOJF dance orchestra in Prague, under the direction of Kamil Lochman. She sang a wide repertoire from swing to rock'n'roll - she was a guest with the Czech Dance Orchestra. radio ( TOČR ), the Karel Vlach orchestra , occasionally with the Ferdinand Havlík orchestra and the Karel Duba orchestra . Exceptionally, she also sang more demanding jazz (with the SHQ of Karel Velebný ). She celebrated great success in duets with Josef Zíma , Karl Gott , Karl Hála , Milan Chladil , Milan Martin ,Standa Procházka and Miroslav Šuba . Her biggest hit was a duet with Karel Gott The day is beautiful from the first Czech musical Starci na chmelu . She left the music scene in the early 1970s. On May 6, 1990, she died in a fire in her apartment.
