Jan Węcowski (b. 1931) is a Polish composer, musicologist, teacher, writer, and publisher. Born on 7th June 1931 in Chmielowie-Tarnobrzegu, Węcowski is not only known as a composer and writer, but as a musicologist he was responsible for the discovery of the oldest preserved music in Poland: Exsultet (c. 1060), and dozens of other pieces of early music.
