Taking influences from House, techno, electro and Hip-Hop, his sets fuse gnarly electronic melodies and heavy, acidic basslines over hypnotic techno and house. The success of his residency has recently seen him play at Fabric London, Stealth Nottingham, Redlight and Le Mix in Paris, Q in Zurich and secure another residency in Estonia. Whether James is playing in front of 1,500 in Zurich or 150 in a basement in Bristol, his performances never leave the crowd wanting. James’ first two releases on Four:Twenty with D Ramirez, ‘The Day Hip Hop Died’ and ‘I Choose Anger’, have had plays from Pete Tong on Radio 1 and support from Laurent Garnier, Danny Howells, Timo Maas and James Holden. James’ two latest tracks with his other production partner Liam Sullivan, ‘I Can (Learn To Like This)’ and ‘Embrace Obese Bass’, are due for release later this year. Four:Twenty have asked James to mix their new compilation ‘Music 01’, due out July 10 2006. Mixed completely live using Serato Scratch Live, it’s packed with exclusive tracks and remixes and reflects his unique style of DJing. Its garnerd rave reviews across the board, four stars in iDJ and Mixmag, and Five in DJ, Update and Time Out London.
