About Jacques Duguay

Born in Hull, Quebec, I grew up listening to Country music. My father used to listen to Georges Jones - Loretta Lynn - Jim Reeves - Hank Williams - All the GREAT ones - when a Country band meant a PIANO-GUITAR-BAS-FIDDLE-PEDAL STEEL-MANDOLINE-DOBRO... so i was raised in an "artistic" family where everybody sand in the local choir and paint or play music. On 5 kids, we are 2 mucicians; my young brother Jean and I. I remember when i was 5 years old, my sister made a guitar out of a big cardboard box and handed it to me... with elastics for strings... It was the most beautiful guitar i ever seen... and my musical career started that day! By the age of 12, I wanted to sell my bicycle to buy a REAL guitar this time but my dad says NO... Instead, he didn't say a word and the same week, he bought me a beautifull and a brand new dark burgundy and black guitar and he told me that i should keep my bicyclel WOW! What a happy teen i was and lucky too; to have a father like hime! So i've learned how to play guitar; the real one! Then as soon as i got my first job, i started to buy all kinds of musical instruments and learn them by myselfl I bought a Banjo, an Accordeon, a Fiddle, a Marimba and played them all and not too bad either! I even used to make a whole band, using an old reel to reel Sony tape recorder and record "sound on sound"... But the REAL HIT came in 1972 as i was a young 19 years old police officer, I've heard Floyd Cramer's The Last Date on the readion one day and i falled in LOVE with his style, Loved it so mutch in fact that i bought his record and also an old upright piano that i've tuned with a... "vise grip"... Then after my night shifts, instead of going to bed...I sat down at my piano and practiced all day long 'till 4PM... I WANTED to learn that Country touch... Now 23 years later i can say that i still practice almost 3 to 5 hours every day. So, sit back and relax... You now have 4 hours of easy listening in the Romance Country collection. - Jacques Duguay http://www.softinstrumental.com/en/contact/index.php
