About Jackie On Acid
John Cortez: Bass, Jenny Jimenez: Lead Vocals, Anthony Jimenez: Drums, Tracy Carrasco: Lead Vocals, Antuan Rivera: Lead Guitar Born out of the South Side of San Antonio, Jackie On Acid expresses the perspective of femminist aggression in a male dominant Hispanic culture. Intertwining their vocal abilities, Jenny Jiminez and Tracy Carrasco rap and sing about sexism in society as well as the frustrations of being female front persons in a male dominated rap/metal music industry. Their political and feminist critiques float above and through the musical foundation formed by Anthony Jimenez (drums), Antuan Rivera (guitar), and John Cortez (bass). The original members of Jackie On Acid began this journey as an improvisational jam session, which in turn grew into what Jackie On Acid is today, a driving force within the San Antonio, TX music scene. Jackie On Acid currently is spreading their name throughout the south Texas region playing in Houston, Austin, Laredo, San Marcos, and Hondo, TX. Opening up for national acts such as Papa Roach, L7, The Union Underground, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Skatenigs, and Fumanchu. Jackie On Acid is a band that needs to be seen as well as heard. From the first drum beat to the last vocal scream, Jackie On Acid gives their all when on stage. Jenny Jimenez and Tracy Carrasco own the stage when they are on it. Their presence is felt and remembered once the audience leaves the venue. They are the duality of experience that women both young and old feel everyday, dealing with existing social issues and lack of an outlet to express that anger and fear. Jackie On Acid is that release as expressed in songs entitled "Kill A Man", "Stitched Lips", "Leashed", and "Prison of Silence". Jackie On Acid tackles those issues but lets the audience and the listener find their own remedies.
