About Jack the Ripper & The Mad Psyentist
Jack The Ripper & The Mad Psyentist conceptualized, produced and wrote their first album together before ever meeting in person. Jack The Ripper, also known as Jack of Co.Z, developed the Seven Sins album concept and told The Mad Psyentist, who then promptly churned out seven unique instrumentals inspired by each sin. The Ripper wrote his lyrics at school in Providence, while The Psyentist polished the beats at the lab in Brooklyn, until the two finally met in person to record. The Mad Psyentist mixed the final cuts, while Jack The Ripper uploaded album artwork by Michael Gray to every digital music location from DatPiff to Soundcloud, iTunes to Spotify. Now the music is ready for your review, available for free and for sale. A new album is already in the works, and may be available as soon as early next year (if the world does not end). The Mad Psyentist's bio coming soon. Jack The Ripper began rapping after meeting Gripp of glassEyeballs while attending high school together. Mostly over AIM, Gripp answered Jack's questions about how to write raps, record and mix vocals, and release digital music. Eventually, Gripp began featuring Jack as a guest vocalist on his albums. While Jack began working as the producer/rapper for the duo Co.Z (with singer/actress Zoë Chao), The Mad Psyentist heard Jack's appearance on Gripp's 2009 album "Grass Nap" and asked Gripp how to get in touch with him. The Ripper and Psyence spoke only a few times before formulating their debut concept album, "The Seven Sins EP." Once The Mad Psyentist composed instrumentals inspired by the theme and sent them to The Ripper, Jack would begin the process of writing and arranging the lyrics. In the meantime, Jack The Ripper also honed his lyrical and delivery skills by releasing multiple mainstream mockery mixtapes during 2010, 2011 and early 2012 as Jack of Co.Z In the fall of 2011, Jack traveled to The Mad Psyentist's lab in Brooklyn to finish recording the album. As The Mad Psyentist mixed the final cuts that winter, Jack The Ripper conceptualized two similarly designed projects to follow "The Seven Sins" making a complete trilogy. Jack commissioned the work of Michael Gray, a talented traditional graphic artist Jack met while at college, to be featured on the covers of the albums. In May of 2012, "The Seven Sins EP" was released for free on DatPiff and Soundcloud, then later became available for purchase on iTunes, Spotify and many other online music stores. "The Five Pillars EP" is currently in production, and may be recorded before the world ends.
