About J.K. & CO.
At fifteen Jay Kaye made the trek from California to British Columbia to record his debut album, 1968's Suddenly One Summer for White Whale records. As the son of Mary Kaye, he was familiar with guitar from an early age. Growing up listening to the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix among others shaped his psychedelic pop direction on his only album under the J.K. & Co. moniker. A concept album about the life and death of a young man, Kaye utilized session musicians to produce an album akin to the Beatles psychedelic efforts using sitar, a horn sections, strings, and backwards drums. White Whale sabatoged the record right off the bat by releasing the albums 36-second album intro "Break of Dawn" as a single. Sundazed Records has recently re-released the album. Jay now plays electric blues as leader of the Jay Kaye Band.
