About Ike Turner Presents The Family Vibes

The Family Vibes was the new name adopted by Ike & Tina Turner's backing band, formerly known as the Kings of Rhythm, in 1971. Under this name, Ike Turner produced and released two primary studio albums on United Artists Records that featured his signature blend of instrumental funk, rock, and soul. Core Albums Strange Fruit (January 1972): An instrumental album recorded at Ike & Tina's "Bolic Sound" studio in October 1971. It is described as a follow-up to A Black Man's Soul, featuring heavy instrumental funk. Confined to Soul (1973): The group's second major release under this moniker, continuing the exploration of rhythm & blues and funk styles.
