About International Love Corporation
The International Love Corporation formed with a specific purpose in mind. To make music and generate LOVE. "Every time we go onstage it is in the name of love. The love rises as we play, through the roof and out into the atmosphere beyond, making it's way around the world in invisible strands". International love, the finest of it's kind. Formed by Comfort who was kicking around running a few acoustic clubs in London. In the Line of Fire down in Camden, Blast! at Spitz. All under the ILC name, the actual band started coming together when he met guitarist Greg Bone and joined forces with older friends Dan Farant and Magnus Box (drums and bass). Managing to persuade a local property owner in London Bridge that the luxury workshops under construction could be put to good use as a free studio for the band, Comfort had an unofficial HQ to use as the base for putting together the concept of the ILC. Over the last year and a half the band has been growing and forming, held together by a central core of members with other free roaming satellites orbiting in and around it's vicinity. The love songs got louder as the world outside got stranger. Psychedelic love songs, the movement downstream, the never ending flow. "We create music by channelling love through the gaps in the clouds. We rehearse telepathically, so we have to rely on magic. No-one knows exactly what's gonna happen, but we know it's about love, so it'll always be okay. It's about catching the right wave. Then everything's fine". Previously Comfort was in the band Out of My Hair, signed to RCA records. Supporting the likes David Bowie and Radiohead, the band built up a cult following. So popular were they in Japan, Comfort actually had his own Manga Cartoon Strip. The relationship with RCA soured after the Bob Clearmountain mixed 2nd album got caught up in the major label system, and the band split. Magnus Box (bass) used to be in the bands Rub Ultra and Lowfinger. Martin Virgo had considerable success (especially in the States) with his band Mono. The ILC have just recorded their first album, provisionally titled "the Experimental Shape of Happiness" and recently Chris Potter (Urban Hymns) has mixed a couple of tracks for the band- Still Breathing and On a Road. Live the band are nothing short of sensational and reckon they could hold their own on ANY stage with ANY band in the world. This is not an exaggeration, but of course must be witnessed first hand to be understood. "This is where we're at," says Comfort. "The world is so weird at the moment, absolutely crazy, and it leaves a shadow on your life. So we're standing for love, we're fighting for love. That's the way it is". The ILC are Comfort (guitars, vocals), Greg Bone (guitars),Dan Farrant (drums), Duncan Mackay (trumpet).Juliet and Suzi Q (vocals), Magnus Box (bass), Milly and Tristan (harps), Kenny Keys and Martin Virgo (rhodes, hammond).
