I, THE HUNTER are a Rock and Roll band. Mixing the sound of the music each member grew up with and still loves to this day, with their favourite parts of the modern hard rock scene, I, THE HUNTER are here for the fun of it all, not the glory. Formed by cousins JOHNNY SHOTGUN (ex-THIS SHOTGUN KISS and INANE EMINENCE) and Ryan, now aka RY, THE HUNTER (ex-THIS SHOTGUN KISS) in early 2008, the project started as nothing more than the two writing fast paced 80's influenced rock songs as a bit of fun. Johnny then brought in younger brother and crazy-arse bass player James aka JAMMZ (ex-KISSING THE LIPLESS) to start writing as a band. Soon deciding he'd rather just focus on vocal duties, Johnny got in touch with MATTY SATURN (ex- SHAO KHAN), a young but bullshit-skilled kiss fanatic to join them on rhythm guitar. Rounded out by Johnnys long time best mateANTMAN (ex THE AGENDA, VIOLET and once THISSHOTGUNKISS member) on skins, the 5 writing as a team had songs, ideas and good times that seem to just be bleeding out of places they shoudn't be... "We've all done the hardcore thing, the metal thing, the punk thing, the screamo thing and even the indie rock thing between us. It's all been so overdone. It's all about being cool and popular and good looking and weird hair... We've all been there! It was time we all started playing the music that REALLY gets us hard... The stuff that gets shit HAPPENING! The ballsy old school Rock and Roll. It's about playing loud and fast, rocking to your own music as mates and (literally for half of the band) family. We're not trying to break any musical barriers or become the next Paulini with ITH, we just wana have fun with the only style of music that seems to stand the test of time. Rock and fuckin Roll!" (ITH) With a litle hardcore/metal feel at times, (with previous influences of past bands of the members) I, THE HUNTER are hoping to mix that sound of the 80's hard rockers like MOTLEY CRUE and GUNS N ROSES with a modern hard rock/southern rock sound (think latter day 18 visions, he is legend, maylene and the sons of disaster) full of big riffs, infectious choruses, plenty of solos and even a good ol' breakdown (breakdowns are for quitters). So if you're looking for a band who's only goal is to make you stamp your feet, get your tits/junk out, go back to the bar for another round or even muster up the courage to talk to the smokin' hottie up the back, then I, THE HUNTER is what you need.
