About Hey Stranger

Hey Stranger is living proof that there is much more to find on Craigslist than used futons or random hookups. Once complete strangers who met on the net, the members of New York based pop ska group Hey Stranger are still a very young band but have been developing a very loyal following. With influences ranging from Reel Big Fish to Fall Out Boy to Top 40 Hits, the group has forged a diverse sound which touches on these inspirations but is still very much their own. Having shared the stage with bands like The Toasters and Authority Zero, Hey Stranger has developed a truly memorable experience in their high energy live performances. Whether it's playing out of state shows in Connecticut or Jersey or rocking a local favorite like the Knitting Factory, the Hey Stranger live show has become a force to be reckoned with/heavily danced to. In the Spring of 2011, Hey Stranger completed work on their long anticipated debut full length. Entitled “Waited Out the Day”, the record offers something for everyone from high octane pop rock in the title track itself to slower, more melodic grooves which are assured to get your head and toes nodding and tapping, respectively. With the launch of a debut record, Hey Stranger promises to give lovers of ska and music in general something special to dance to and smile about until your music player of choice burns out.
