The Life and Times of Herbal Flesh Tea American punk / indie rock band from Villa Park, IL formed in 1992 by brothers Paul and Tom Velat and drummer Kevin Stephens. They recorded one 4 song cassette, three 7 inch ep's, a multi concert VHS tape and two full length compact discs between 1992 and 1997. They have reunited three times most recently in 2009 at the Mutiny in Chicago, IL for the release of their 2nd compact disc (hft-lost cd) that was originally recorded in 1997. The Line Up Paul Velat - guitar and vocals Tom Velat - bass and vocals Kevin Stephens - drums Discography TORNADOS AND TRAILER PARKS 4 song self released cassette recorded in the bands practice space in Bellwood, IL. Released in 1992. GOOD TIME CHARLIE 4 song 7 inch ep released by the Faithful Goat record company and recorded by Chris Roswell. Released in 1993. MIDWESTERNER EP 4 song 7 inch ep released by the Faithful Goat record company and recorded by Tom Velat at College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL in May of 1994. Extra musicians include: Bill Blidy, trumpet on Hawaii 5-0 and Denis Buckley of 88 fingers louie doing backing vocals on A Dedication. Released in 1994. MAY DAYS, MALAISE and MORE Multi concert VHS tape mostly recorded in may of 1995 that also included a portion of a show from March of that year. Video recorded by Nate Dykeman and released by MF entertainment. Released in 1995. THE WHOLE NINE YARDS Full length compact disc released by the Faithful Goat record company and recorded by Eric Atkinson in Grafton, Wisconsin. Released in 1995. DIVE IN b/w SHAVE 2 song 7inch released by Liberty Park Recordings and recorded by Eric Atkinson at the Figurehead house, Milwaukee, Wi. on February 2nd 1996. Released in 1996. HERBAL FLESH TEA (the lost cd) Self released full length compact disc recorded in 1997 by Eric Atkinson in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Was not available while the band was still together but was eventually released at a 2009 re-union show at the Mutiny in Chicago, IL. Post (after Herbal Flesh Tea) Paul Velat went on to play in the indie rock band Six of one half summers and would eventually re-unite with Kevin Stephens in the band Paul from Lombard and the latch key kids. Tom Velat went on to form The Victors over Rueben McGee. Both Tom and Paul Velat would also play together as the bass and drums (respectively) for the power pop trio The Eric Kmiec Quartet from 2002 to 2006.
