About Hellfire Trigger

Underground shows, hand drawn flyers, organizing, and working together with both other bands and the kids ....this is the chassis to the protestant work ethic make-up that is Hellfire Trigger. Hellfire Trigger, or "HFT", was brought up and schooled in the "old ways" of brother bands and VFW halls, but they exist to resist in a time of high dollar guarantees, overwhelming competition, and monster venues. The band was formed from the dismantling of several San Diego local bands, to form a, for a lack of a better term, "all-star" local band. The mission was to draw attention to and unite the borderline non-existent North County scene, and carve out a home. CJ, the singer, already owned and operated an indie label called BC Records, which was gaining attention. Nicholas, the guitarist, had a long history of setting up guerrilla shows in the Midwest. Rick, the drummer, and AJ, the bassist, were both well connected locally and excellent networkers. The first show was May 13 th , 2004 in a stained ballroom above a bowling alley with A18 and the Hillstreet Stranglers, and the amazing turnout benchmarked the new dawn. Since the area was essentially untapped, makeshift venues sprouted and attendances swelled. Ambitious and able to bring in national acts like: TSOL, Agent Orange, JFA, the Weirdos, the U.S. Bombs, and A18 to the North County, HFT and their brother bands were now promoting and playing to great crowds without the use of pre-sale tickets, the use of "pay to play" procedures, high door charges, or burning bridges. Hellfire Trigger also ran their own venue out of Nicholas' and AJ's workplace called the "Hellfire House", and once a month would hold an all ages show for cheap to a packed house. Soon, agents representing national acts started contacting HFT, hoping to play this makeshift 150 capacity venue. The Hellfire House shutdown, on its own accord, due to uncontainable sized crowds and parking lot drinking, but the spirit still lives on through house and guerilla coffee shop shows. In the summer of 2004, Hellfire Trigger completed their first U.S. tour of 12 shows, 10 states, and 15 days. In fall of 2005, shortly after attaining new bassist Chris Fazardo and Shaun Sisco from Kill City on second guitar, they topped their previous masochistic tour with a wrenching 14 shows in 17 days...that crossed 20 states. In between they hit as many shows and extended weekend tours as possible. HFT has showed no sign of slowing or becoming stagnant, and they have been known to drive 8 hours each way for shows with local bands for no guarantee. HFT draws influences form all forms of genres: Slayer, A18, Billy Bragg, Danzig, Buried Alive, Naked Raygun, Black Flag, Against Me!, Minor Threat, Vader, and a million others. This crossover of punk/metal/hardcore has granted them the ability to share stages with a myriad of other greats like D.I., Agent Orange, A Chorus of Disapproval, Paint It Black, Mean Season, Red Tape, TSOL, JFA, The Weirdos, Battalion of Saints, Outspoken, Angel City Outcasts, U.S. Bombs, The Forgotten, and Total Chaos. Somewhere in all this mess, HFT was approached by New Age Records, and it seemed a perfect match. New Age Records has always been the independent hard hitter with the same d.i.y. attitude as Hellfire Trigger. Wherever free house shows are going on to rival the high dollar "Enormo-dome" concerts, HFT will be there representing the same ideals their own songs reflect. No bad weather, gauging gas prices, line-up changes, lawsuits, bad blood, nay-saying, or closing venues will stop them. Uphill, upstream, and against the wind.
