About Headlay

For over 15 years, Jesse Germain and Chris Zielinski have been playing music together and participating in different projects within their collective. As guitarists, they cut their teeth on artists ranging from Pavement to Opeth, and Headlay's sound is evidenced by this. After exiting their seminal math rock band Transmission Over due to creative differences, the two started working on song challenges and songwriting under the name Bards, which they later changed to Headlay when they released their first album, "Up All Night." As a pet project for the duo they are always steering their sound into the unknown and searching for their next obsession, and although writing guitar-forward rock is at the core of both Jesse and Chris' songwriting pasts, they are always looking to blend new instruments and concepts into Headlay's sound. Bookended by their two full album releases, Headlay has also produced singles and an EP in recent years, featuring their peers like C4103, B. Barr, Squelch and others. Headlay's compositions are constantly evolving and their sophomore album "The World is Disappointing When You've Found Another" is no exception to this rule.
