Hair Machine

About Hair Machine

Born to the same mother but boasting different fathers, Hyla, Hella and Holla Sylvan were raised in remote eastern Florida, moving to Hallandale as feral children so their mother could work three shifts in the bottle cap plant owned and operated by Pop-Yer-Top, Inc., the largest employer in the area at the time. Largely left to themselves, the girls discovered an early love for broken glass, fire and shoplifting. Self-educated, all learned to play instruments and were heavily influenced by the power balladeers of the '80's and '90's and the glampop movement of the '70's and '80's. Never having held anything remotely approaching gainful employment, the Sylvan sisters formed Hair Machine as a means of procuring as much blow as humanly possible without actually having to hold down jobs to pay for it. They were voted Best Live Act at Shout At The Gator 2008, and garnered numerous awards and STDs at the prestigious Gainesville Live Music Festival and multiple outdoor BBQs. Most recently they opened several shows for Amanda Palmer (of the Dresden Dolls) and Vermillion Lies in Florida, only a few of which were marred by coke-fueled on-stage brawls and a brief overnight stay in County on shoplifting charges (if you see Holla on the side of the road in her orange jumpsuit picking up trash and happen to have blow on you, do the neighborly thing and stop to offer a little moral support and a line or two). Currently unsigned, Roadrunner Records is rumored to be negotiating with Hair Machine on a record seven record deal.
