About Halford
Halford is an American heavy metal band formed in 1999 by English singer Rob Halford, who is best known as the lead vocalist for the heavy metal band Judas Priest. The band was established to allow Halford to return to his heavy metal roots after his previous projects, the "street metal"-style band Fight and the industrial metal band 2wo. The band’s first album, "Resurrection", was released in 2000 and received critical acclaim. It was later included in Martin Popoff’s book "The Top 500 Heavy Metal Albums of All Time", with the songs "Silent Screams" and the title track "Resurrection" also being highlighted. The track "The One You Love to Hate" features vocals by Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. Halford’s second studio album, "Crucible", was released in 2002. Although no official live recordings were issued to promote the album, a high-quality soundboard bootleg titled "Live: From the Disney House of Blues" was made available for download from robhalford.com in 2004. Japanese editions of the album included bonus tracks such as "She", "Fugitive", "Rock the World Forever", and "In the Morning". In November 2006, the band released the single "Forgotten Generation". This period also saw the first wave of remastered re-releases of Halford’s back catalogue on the iTunes Store. Early recordings by Fight, including "K5 – The War of Words Demos", were also made available. The compilation "Metal God Essentials Vol. 1" featured fan-favourite Halford tracks alongside new recordings "Forgotten Generation" and "Drop Out". Halford’s third album, "Halford III: Winter Songs", was released on 3 November 2009. It includes tracks recorded between 2008 and 2009, as well as traditional Christmas songs rearranged into heavy metal versions by Rob Halford. The first single, "Get Into the Spirit", was released to radio on 29 September 2009. The band’s fourth album, "Halford IV: Made of Metal", was released in September 2010, preceded by the single "The Mower" on 25 June 2010.
