About H3B

Régis Huby : violin Tom Arthurs : trumpet Sébastien Boisseau : double bass Denis Badault : piano The Trio with Régis Huby - violin, Sébastien Boisseau - double bass and Denis Badault - Piano was founded during the Grenoble Jazz Festival, an acoustic trio proposing music precise yet free, serious yet fun, unpredictable yet obvious ! In 2009, during a residency in Theater of Sète, the trio became a quartet with Laurent Blondiau - trumpet and performed “BadOxymore”, a commission performed with the National Orchester of Montpellier. H3B's music finds its roots in Jazz and also a certain contemporary classical music, and despite being acoustic is truly music of the present day, communicating a large range of emotions to their audience. In 2010, Tom Arthurs, an exceptional young trumpet player living in Berlin replaced Laurent Blondiau. His qualities as an improvisor integrate perfectly with H3B and bring some fresh air. Each of these four unconventional musicians has a strong artistic personality and yet, a common approach : rigour and freedom, open-mindedness and a liking for surprises. On its last CD, H3B share a new program called : song, no songs. Some are songs, some others aren't. "Denis Badault is admittedly a refined composer, a clever arranger, a rigorous conductor and obviously at the same time a charismatic leader (La Bande à Badault, l'Orchestre National de Jazz, les Résidences de création). But one shall not forget he is also a lyrical pianist, voluble and sophisticated as well, romantic in his own way. He is always quick to shift the frames of composition in order to give free vent to his inspiration, mingling his art of elaborate forms with his taste for melody and desire of total improvisation. And he always does it with a great sense of sound alchemy." Stéphane Ollivier http://www.jeanmarctoussaint.com/h3b.html
