About Gutterbirds
Gutterbirds were a dance-punk band from Melbourne, Australia formed in February 2011. The core of the band initially consisted of vocalist/lyricist Will Ackroyd, guitarist/songwriter Ben Edwards and drummer/songwriter Lulu Collard. The first full lineup of the band included second guitarist Rion Waddleton and bassist Jimmy Buysen. Band videographer Thomas Elliott then replaced Buysen throughout the second half of 2011 until he was replaced by Mitch Saunders at the start of 2012. This final lineup would continue until Gutterbirds amicably parted ways on 20th March 2013 due to all members' exhaustion with the band's hard-partying lifestyle. Their discography consists solely of a 26-minute compilation digitally released at the end of the band's tenure documenting demos (from various lineup configurations) over the years and a bootleg-quality live performance -- the only one captured considering Gutterbirds played just four shows throughout its run. Since the band's dissolution, some members went on to start new projects immediately in the wake: Edwards formed easycore band NO! NOT THE BEES! with various friends of Gutterbirds, Elliott with post-hardcore group Harbours and Collard introspecting through solo experimental project Serene Ailment.
