The Gurdan Thomas Collective is known for its imaginative songs that tell stories inspired by philosophy and the human condition, delivered in an acoustic folkpop style with a theatrical sprinkling and a good dose of barefoot dancing. This multi-instrumental collective is led by an English composer-songwriter based in Munich and Birmingham. Having produced 2 self-released albums, ‘Graceful Rabbits’ (2007) and ‘Gnodelly Gnodelly’ (2008), and a 3rd ‘The Fat Lady Sings’ released on Commercially Inviable in 2010 the identity Gurdan Thomas has evolved truly into a collective in their latest recording that was captured mostly live with 9 musicians, a choir and a ukulele orchestra at Highbury Studio, Birmingham. It’s planned release is in Summer 2012. BBC Radio 1's Louise Kattenhorn (Producer of the late John Peel's show) selected 'God Is Me' for the Storm The Charts (UK) project. Gurdan has received airplay on NPR (National Public Radio, USA) and has graced the stages of the Tollwood Festival (Munich), Ander Art Stage (Oktoberfest), Grenzenlos (Bayreuth), Fête de la Musique (Börsch) Gigbeth Festival, The Soho Ottakring Festival in Vienna, The Pro Etnica Festival in Sighisoara, Romania and The Moseley Folk Festival, UK. Gurdan recently performed at The Suq Festival in Genoa, Italy, as part of the MELT project, where he spent some time working with musicians from Munich, Vienna, Istanbul, Genoa, Sighisoara and Birmingham. Gurdan has also performed as part of label buddy James Summerfield's touring band.
