About Grand Electric
Grand Electric was formed in 2010 with the ambitious goal, "Let's start a band with two guitars." Despite this, guitarists Ahmed Abdallah and David Hansford were able to attract bassist Lee Marshall Griffin and drummer Dan Gillespie. The addition of this soulful rhythm section to the raw power of the dual guitars created a vintage rock sound which was "surprisingly good," but it wasn't until the addition of singer A.T. Callan's smooth southern vocals that the experiment called Grand Electric finally earned its name. The bands extensive setlist now variously draws comparisons to Humble Pie, Jimi Hendrix, The Black Keys, and Paul Weller. Grand Electric has focused intensely on it's live show, leading to gigs at such great NYC venues as Piano's and The Highline Ballroom. Building on this is the soon to be released debut EP Faking It has enjoyed great pre-release success, provoking comments such as, "Wow, I thought every song was pretty amazing," and "Is Chevy Rock a genre yet?"
