About Glasscutter
Glasscutter is an older pseudonym of independent Seattle-based electro-acoustic artist Josh Landry. He combines electronic instrumentation, found sound and ambience with guitar playing and singing for a sound that is equal parts avant-garde and a blend of more conventional styles ranging from industrial rock to danceable techno to complex orchestrated abstraction. He draws from a wide range of influences including Coil, Nurse With Wound, Claude Debussy, Gustav Mahler, Autechre, John Zorn, Devin Townsend, Lustmord, Steve Roach, Cocteau Twins, and The Doors. His hypnotic, less sentimental psychedelic dance project NYMPHOMANIA takes most of his time these days, and so the Glasscutter moniker refers mostly to older works from this point onwards.
