Giulio Franzetti violinist After the diploma in the "Giuseppe Verdi" Conservatory in Milan with Franco Tufari, Giulio Franzetti he specialized under the guidance of Georges Enescu in Paris and then in Vienna. At the age of 22, first violin of the "Quartetto di Milano", he won the International Competition of Geneva. He started then an international career performing with this quartet in Italy and abroad. He was member and soloist of the "Virtuosi di Roma" directed by Renato Fasano and afterwards of the "Solisti Italiani", with whom he toured the world. He gave the world première of the works written by many Italian composers such as Bruno Bettinelli, Riccardo Malipiero, Pietro Grossi, Luciano Chailly, Aldo Clementi, Giorgio Federico Ghedini and Franco Donatoni, and he also premiered in Italy the music by Berg, Webern and Strawinski. He performed as second violin with the "Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala" of Milan and with the "Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala", where he was also founding member and member of the executive board. Beside his performing career he devotes himself to teaching: he worked at the Turin, Parma and Milan Conservatories and he was one of the tutors for the "Orchestra Europea" founded by Claudio Abbado, as well as at the "Mahler Jugend Orchester". He is currently teaching at the "Scuola di musica di Fiesole" and he is violin tutor for the "Orchestra Cherubini". He has recorded for Denon, E.M.I., Voce del Padrone and Sony.
